Happy Thanksgiving!

I know it can be a bit annoying for folks to go on and on about what they're thankful for on Thanksgiving, especially given the holiday's history, but I'm going to do so anyway.

Along with being thankful for my family and friends, my health, my home and my livelihood, among other things, I'm thankful for everyone who has ever visited this blog. I'm especially thankful for all of you who comment once in a while and, as a result, help make this site feel more like a community than an electronic soapbox.

Now, get off your computer and go stuff your face with your family members and/or friends (if you celebrate Thanksgiving, of course).

  2. Thanks, Darwin! You, too :) How are you spending the day, if you don't mind me asking?

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to you Bryan, I hope your day is a supremely splendid one :)

  4. By the way, that turkey dude looks like he's from Animal Crossing, judging by his style. I never got around to playing the game thoroughly enough to see all the 'special occasions'...

Thank you. I hope mine will one day be as awesome as yours ;)

Thank you for sharing your passion with us.

  6. Well, my partner is away, so I'm mostly going to be Skyrimming it today... and being thankful for everything in my life.. and that pizza is a vegetable, since I'll be having several servings.

Also really happy that I found your blog this year. :)

  8. Thanks, Adam! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, too :)

  9. Simon: Yep, it's Franklin from Animal Crossing: City Folk. (I think he was in a few other iterations of the game, too.) You have to give him forks and spoons so he doesn't end up on the town's table :)

Which version of Animal Crossing have you played, by the way? The GC version, the DS version or the Wii version?

  10. Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy all the food! I've to wait until christmas for my turkey!

  11. Andrew: Do you have a blog, too? If so, what's its URL? I'd love to see it!

Also, thank you for the kind words about this blog. I appreciate them :)

  12. Darwin: I'm sorry you'll be alone today. It's nice, though, that you'll have pizza and Skyrim to comfort you :)

Also, I'm thankful that you found my blog this year, too! So glad to have met someone like you :)

  13. Thank you, Retr0gamer! Hope you have a great day -- even if it doesn't include turkey :) (Of course, mine won't include turkey, either, but that's another story.)

  15. Thanks, Justin! I'm glad to hear this blog can be a little respite for you during this, er, cacophonous day :)

Also, I'm more thankful than you likely know for you finding and coming to this blog and contributing as much as you have over the last few years!

  16. Thanks Bryan, it's just a normal day here of course but I'll try to enjoy it. My boss wasn't at work today so that part of it has been nice already! Regarding Animal Crossing, I've played the GC and Wii versions but only at a friend's house. KK Slider is king of all :)

  17. Hello again, Simon! I'm glad you're having a nice day at work. It's always nice when the boss is absent, isn't it? As for Animal Crossing: Yes, KK Slider is awesome. I also love all of the weird cat characters, for some strange reason -- especially the bitchy ones :P

  18. Yes, they made me laugh too. My friend kept showing me this dude who thought he was a superhero, I think he was a hamster or something. Any ideas?

  19. Any ideas which character it was? Hoo boy, I don't think so. It's been a while since I've played the Wii version. I do really like the personalities of some of the "residents," though :)

  20. I am thankful that it is 2011 and 'skyrimming' doesn't immediately sound like something from a Dan Savage column.

    Indeed, I'm keeping it classy.

  21. Happy Thanksgiving to you! Of course we don't celebrate it over here, but I do indeed miss the turkey!

Thanks for being such an inspiration to me! You've really helped me come a long way in my passion for games/blogging in the past year or so :)

Just curious, who's in charge creating the feast over your way? Or is it a group effort?

  22. Hey there, Jyr! Is it wrong that my mind *did* immediately go to to something from a Dan Savage column? At least I didn't share that fact, right? ;)

  23. Thanks, Anne -- and Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, even if you're not celebrating it!

As for somehow being an inspiration to you: You're very welcome! I don't think you needed me to grow as a writer or blogger, though -- you seem to be great already :)

Both David and I cooked our feast by the way. I'm usually in charge of the sweets/anything baked, while David does the savory stuff. This year I helped out a bit in that regard, though, and also cleaned most of the house.

Now we're stuffed to the hilt and everyone has returned home, so it's time to be lazy once again.

Hope all of you have had a great day and will have a great weekend, too!

  25. Thank you, Marco! Hope you had a great day, too, even if you didn't celebrate Thanksgiving :)
