Is that a banana in your pocket, King of All Cosmos, or are you just happy to see me?

I think you'll find the headline above to be pretty appropriate after watching the following video, which apparently will welcome gamers when they boot up their copies of Namco's Katamari Damacy Novita.

Anyway, I don't know about you, but the combination of the King of All Cosmos' skin-tight, banana-yellow jumpsuit and his colossal bulge has me feeling just a bit ... conflicted.

  1. Holy Lord. I feel the same way about this as I do about David Bowie in Labyrinth...

I'm not sure if it's turned on or terrified beyond all reason...

  2. Ha! I think that's the perfect way to describe your reaction to this movie/video, Justin. Personally, I was grooving along with the song and lovin' the wacky imagery and then King of All Cosmos pops up and I was like, "Oh. Oh! Uh..." :P

  3. Exactly. I love it. It's VERY Katamari.

  4. Yes, that it is. It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out. Hey, you know what would be interesting? A Katamari Damacy for 3DS! Ooooooh...

  5. I actually was a bit put off by some of the art used in this trailer! I kind of liked the art style in the older games better. Still amazing, though

  6. But the trailer didn't show any gameplay, Anne! Isn't it supposed to look, basically, like the previous versions? At least that's what I thought...

  7. Oh no I'm sure the actual in-game content looks basically the same, I'm just saying I don't like some of the art used in the cut + paste elements of this opening video (I read it was an opening video and not an actual trailer?). I just thought the cartoony style of the cutscenes in some of the other titles was a bit better, like We Heart Katamari: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ico76dwV_10

Am I being picky?!? I guess...

  8. Oh, *now* I get what you mean, Anne! I can see where you're coming from, as the style is a bit ... "different." And, yes, you're right -- this is supposed to be the opening movie and not a trailer. Now, please forgive me while I go watch the scene you sent me from We Heart Katamari :)

  9. Ha! OK, so I just watched the scene you sent me from We Heart Katamari ... and I loved it! I agree that the style used in that cutscene (opening?) was preferable to the one I posted yesterday for Katamari Damacy Novita. The latter is kind of ... cheap, isn't it?
