That's mainly because Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise, unlike Rhythm Heaven Fever, will feature both English and Japanese vocal tracks.
Is Beat the Beat's box art (above) also responsible for me feeling a bit envious of Euro Wii owners? Not really. Although I'd hardly call it ugly, I also wouldn't call it beautiful. (I much prefer Rhythm Heaven Fever's wildly colorful cover illustration, which can be viewed in this previous post.)
What do all of you think? Does Beat the Beat's packaging get you all hot and bothered, or does it leave you feeling limp?
I think "Beat the Beat' subtitle was pretty unnecessary. Get rid of the ugly font and speakers, and it would be sweet.

Oh forgot to add - but at the end of the day, the case will go on the shelf and I'll be too focused on the game to care about the case LOL (I may get the game when it comes out here)
ReplyDeleteAdam: Yeah, you're making me think the cover is a bit more "blah" than I originally imagined it to be. Still, it's a great game, so hopefully folks in the EU region will look past the boring box art.
ReplyDeleteIgor: Of course you're right that, when all is said and done, the cover art doesn't matter. Of course, you know about the game and what it has to offer. Folks who don't read up on games, though, only have the box front and back to go by. I just wonder if this art is compelling enough to attract them.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I think the NA box art *is* pretty compelling, but as far as I can tell, that game hasn't exactly lit the sales charts on fire. Of course, Nintendo of America barely promoted it -- unlike how the Japanese version was promoted in that region -- so what do you expect?
Looked up the US cover - its very red and bright LOL

Though the Japanese one is probably the most minimalist of all.
I think the important this is that the features are listed properly on the back (like the bilingual option).
Limp. I think the retitling is ugly, too. But the dual vocal tracks is AWSOME! Why do they not do that for us?!

ReplyDeleteThe Japanese cover is rather minimalistic. I really like the rainbow theme of it, but I wish it had a bit more to it -- like more of the characters that are present on the Euro art?
Justin: Yes, the dual soundtracks definitely is awesome. As for why we didn't get them: I'm assuming it's because NOA hates us :(

The japanese and american box-art of Rythm Heaven looks so cute and colourful and we get this...
What a disappointment. :(
Although I agree that the Euro box art is the worst of the three by far, at least you got the game, right? I'm worried that the next one won't be released outside of Japan, as I think both the DS and Wii versions bombed in both the US and Europe :(
