They sure put things in perspective, don't they? :)Bryan Ochallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16256591698209804728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20740650.post-78319862112102470612011-02-09T06:20:24.661-08:002011-02-09T06:20:24.661-08:00Yes, that's what I meant. Pac-Man for the Atari 2600. But I guess that's like comparing a shiny golden medal to a piece of dog crap. :DLinneahttp://www.spelinnea.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20740650.post-67467701465640093242011-02-08T17:47:46.067-08:002011-02-08T17:47:46.067-08:00It is a great box, isn't it, Sean? I also really like the DK Jr. and Mario Bros. boxes.

I've seen the second version of DK Jr. -- which has the cover art on the label -- but not DK. Very interesting! It must be kind of rare, eh? Pauline is definitely going to have some giant-ape-finger shaped bruising on her hips in the morning.

Incidentally there are two versions of the DK Famicom cart. Are you wondering if thi...What do you mean, Linnea? Are you wondering if this release (and other such arcade ports) led to a drop in profitability of arcades? I would guess that was the case, but I can't say that with any authority.

Nintendo definitely tried to bring the "arcade experience" home with the Famicom, especially at first. After all, their first few releases were ports of their Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Mario Bros. and Popeye arcade games.

It's funny how my opinion has changed regarding these titles over the years. As a kid, I thought they were horrible -- because they weren't, in my mind, "arcade perfect." Now, though, I see that they were *nearly* arcade perfect, which is pretty amazing given their age and the Famicom's tech.

Anyway, other than all of that, I agree with you completely when it comes to the symbol on the back of the box looking like a smiley face :)Bryan Ochallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16256591698209804728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20740650.post-13387028372286997512011-02-08T13:50:15.152-08:002011-02-08T13:50:15.152-08:00Poor Pauline is having her internal organs crushed...Poor Pauline is having her internal organs crushed on the cover...what a brute! Or was it a clever move and all in Nintendos secret plan?

Also, the third sign from the left on the back of the box, totally looks like a smiley face. =)Linneahttp://www.spelinnea.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
