It. Hath. Shipped.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter (ahem) already know this--well, assuming you were paying attention yesterday afternoon--but for those of you who don't: my gold Pokémon Center 3DS LL has shipped!

Sadly, it's not supposed to show up on my doorstep until late next week. So, I've got a good few days of impatient finger tapping ahead of me before I get my hands on this gorgeous (in my opinion) handheld.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share the following unboxing video of the very same system, in case any of you are curious to see it in the flesh:

Something that I learned from the video above: the gold Pokémon Center 3DS LL has a shiny surface, much like the red and blue Pokémon X and Y 3DS XLs that just hit Europe and North America.

I'm OK with that, although I have to admit I was expecting it to have a matte finish like most other LLs and XLs.

Anyway, expect to see a bunch of photos of my own Pokémon Center 3DS LL shortly after it arrives on my doorstep.

  1. It looks awesome. I'm seriously tempted to order the new golden Zelda XL with the Tri-Force on the front. So many cool limited editions...

  2. Oh, yes, that one's nice, too. I kind of wish the back side of it were gold, too, but I can understand why they went with the design they did.

  5. It comes with X or Y pre-loaded onto the system. The one I bought will have X on it :) Are you playing the game, BTW? If so, which version?

  6. Yeah, that's cool, isn't it? Strangely enough, I bought this system before I had any real interest in X/Y. At the time, I just imagined I wouldn't play the game--or if I wanted to play the game, I'd buy the NA version. Nice to know I don't have to do that now. Also, yes, the Luigi LL is very, VERY nice, IMO :)

That's a beautiful system, shame they didn't release it in the west though.

Just a warning (about the game) encase you haven't heard yet but there's a game breaking glitch that involves saving outdoors in Lumiose City.

  9. Yes, it really is weird/stupid/sad that Nintendo has made so many LE/SE 3DSes Japan-only releases.

As for the glitch: I've read about it. Thanks for the warning, though. Isn't Nintendo supposed to be working on a patch for it?

  10. I'm glad the Pokemon transfer and bank aren't available until December. If I'd moved over 649 Pokemon and had my save file corrupted... ugh. Thankfully, my game has been glitch-free.

  11. Do you actually have a bunch of Pokemon to move, Zaphod? Me, I don't think I have ANY! I mean, I guess I could move over some of the ones I caught in Black/White, but do you have to have beaten the game to make that possible? If so, I'm screwed, Oh, well...

  12. I have what I recently discovered is called a "living Pokedex," meaning I have one of each type in my boxes in White 2. I've been transferring them forward from the GBA to DS generations.

Nothing can be transferred from the DS games until the app launches later.

  13. Ah, that's interesting, Terry.

BTW, I knew nothing could be transferred from the DS games until the app launches next year. But even then, will *I* be able to transfer any? I never finished Black, unfortunately, although I made it pretty darn far (right up to the Final Four, or whatever they're called, I believe). I always thought you had to beat the games before you could transfer Pokemon from one game to another...

  14. In previous games, you had to beat them to import them, but I think the transfer app will just do a one-way pull from your save file into the Pokemon Bank no matter where you are in the game. I'm just hoping you can be selective, 'cause I don't want to move everything.

  15. Nice!! I love XL special editions!! XD So excited for you to get yours and this video is super cute! lol I'm loving the game! It's the first Pokemon game that's really grabbed me since the original Blue version! lol

I'm also OCD with Pokemon collecting so I take forever with the games! I'm almost 20 hours in and haven't reached the second gym yet! lol

  16. Congrats on your (soon to be acquired) new addition. My son has been asking for Pokemon Y since before it came out, so finally last week, I gave him a long list of chores to do. He completed it on Saturday morning, so I bought it for him. Haven't hardly seen him since - he's been up in his room playing it for hours at a time. LOL

  17. I guess we'll see! I'd love it if I could transfer the characters from my Pokemon Black cart, even though I never beat it :|

  18. Thanks, Marty! I'm glad to hear you're liking the game so far. I can't believe, though, that you've already played it for 20 hours and have yet to reach the second gym. Damn!

  19. Thanks, Chalgyr! Glad to hear your son is enjoying the game so far. I'm guessing this isn't something you'd play yourself?

  20. Well once you get it, I could always see if my son's up for adding you to his 3dS friend's list. He's been playing the game like crazy and doing a lot of trading already. He was super excited about his Eevee and Charmander (I'm pretty sure I butchered both of those) yesterday. :P
