Now I'm feeling a bit torn about the whole thing. Do I drop $49 on the Collector's Edition and get a soundtrack CD with some sweet cover art (as well as a few other things I'll probably look at once and then file away), or do I save $10 and buy the regular release instead?
As of now I'm thinking I'll go for the former, as I'd like Nintendo of America to release more such Collector's Edition in the future.
Both editions of Bravely Default will hit North American store shelves on Feb. 7, by the way. (Both versions of the game can be pre-ordered here.)
Which one will you be picking up--assuming you're interested in picking up a copy of the game at all?

ReplyDeleteI'm not planning on picking it up, but if I were, I'd go for it, an extra $10 for so many little bonuses seems pretty great (and that book looks thick!)

I think it'd be worth it! Though, I would hope that they don't do what they did with the SMTIV collectors edition and only put like 5 *extremely short* songs on the "soundtrack". Especially for a JRPG of this caliber! It's probably got a stupendous ost. What are your concerns? Just the extra money?

Yeah, that's definitely a concern, Zach--that the "soundtrack" will far less impressive than I'm hoping it'll be.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, the only reason I had decided to pass on it until now is that I really just want the game. All the other stuff likely will be shoved into a closet or drawer after I look at it once, so why bother with it?
I've wanted Bravely Default ever since it arrived in Japan a while back, and so I'm extremely excited that it's finally coming westward. As soon as I saw that latest trailer in the recent Nintendo Direct, I rushed to Amazon to place my preorder on the limited edition.
ReplyDeleteMy only complaint is that the included soundtrack doesn't have the awesome cover art that the Japanese version has. I could hang something that gorgeous on my wall.

ReplyDelete4 Heroes of Light was pretty tough, by the way--or it could be if you didn't grind.
I believe you can somewhat set the difficulty of this one, by the way, but I have a feeling that won't help you enjoy it more, so you're probably better off passing on it.
Oh noooooo, I wasn't gonna get the collector's edition but now I want it. What have you done? :P The extra $10 sure does net you a lot of goodies, though!

ReplyDeleteI read somewhere the soundtrack included has 10 songs and is about 35 minutes long which isn't to bad.

ReplyDeleteAccording to last week's Nintendo Direct, the demo is due Jan. 2, and will be a side story worth a few hours. Your items and Street Pass tags transfer over to the main game.

ReplyDeleteIf it's the same as what we got here you can unlock 7 bonuses (they're basically little item packs) that will get transferred to the main game.
Also with the village reconstruction, when you get the main game, 20 villagers will get transferred (gives you a great head start in the main game).
