You don't need to be a Mega Man fan to dig this custom-painted PlayStation

I should know, as I haven't been much of a fan of Mega Man, the character or the series, since Mega Man X was released in 1993.

What can I say? The change in aesthetics just didn't appeal it for me, which I realize is an admittance that's akin to blasphemy.

Still, I'm bowled over by the custom-painted PlayStation that's showcased in the photo above.

It was produced, of course, by the artist who calls himself Oskunk. To see more photos of this creation, check out this post on Oskunk's blog, Custom Art.

  1. Oskunk does some pretty nice art. I really enjoy the Jet Set Radio dreamcast he did a few years ago. Good stuff!

  2. I think he's one of the best examples out there of artists doing this kind of "console modification," Chief, although I acknowledge there are some other great ones, too. And, YES, Oskunk's Jet Set Radio DC is amazing!

  4. "Not half bad," Simon? You're killing me! I think it's great! Oh, well, you can't please everyone, I guess :P

  5. Haha, I may be good at exaggerating but my ability to understate is less well known :)

  6. Ha ha! Yes, understatement can be difficult to convey--or to pick up--on the good ol' Internet :)

  7. I love it. One of these days I'm going to nut up and get one done for myself.

I'll say you don't have to be a fan! It looks cool but what kind of fan is going to tolerate this haphazard mix of Megaman X and Megaman 2 boss characters? ;D

  9. Oh, that's great! I've always wondered if Oskunk sells these creations, and if so, for how much? Also, does he take commissions? I've never asked him these questions because I'm not sure I (or my wallet) want to know the answers :P

Don't sweat it, man. I wasn't a huge fan of Mega Man's grimdark makeover in 1993, either. (Little did I know how much worse it would get for other video game heroes.)

  11. You can say that again, Jess!

  12. He does sell them and most of them are commissions. I enquired for a friend and they eventually did a something, I think.

  13. Oh, that's good to know! I think. I mean, my bank account/wallet may not be so happy to hear that news :P
