Actually, that's not true. By the time I bought an NES, I knew I was getting that iconic gray box (and a copy of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt). For some time before that, though, I thought I was getting this:
By the way, the "M82 Demo Kiosk" in the video above is being sold via eBay. (Here's a link to the auction.) The current bid, with about two days to go, is $2,000.
Yeah, I think I'll stick to playing NES games on my Wii.

just saw that lot :3 pretty nice.
Yeah, it's a pretty cool system, if you ask me. Not $2,000 cool, but cool nonetheless :)
How odd. I've never seen something like that before.
Really, Justin? They were all over the place when the NES first came out. I remember seeing them at ShopKo (my parents' favorite store at the time) and at Toys R Us for quite a few years, though I'm sure they phased them out at some point (after the masses knew what an NES was).
I remember when this costed like.. $120. The prices for NES-stuff has exploded the last couple of years.
Wow. I'd probably buy one if I could find one for $120 :)
At the time I saw that offer I thought "wow, if I just have a little patience it will go even lower!" and then.. Well, we all know what happened. :)
Yeah, I've had a few of those experiences over the years too :)
