I don't want it to end

Do you ever find yourself procrastinating as you near the end of a game?

I do it all the time. I did it as I approached the finale of the first two Professor Layton titles, for instance, and I did it as I sauntered toward the finish line of Super Mario Galaxy, too.

Well, I’m doing it again as I edge ever closer to Dragon Quest IX's end credits.

I'm not entirely sure why I'm doing it, though, as it's pretty well known that the title features oodles (yes, oodles) of post-game content.

Oh, well, sometimes it's best to just go with the proverbial flow, wouldn't you agree?

I'm taking more time to grind and whatnot than I was before, so...yeah...I feel you there.

Besides, I need to grind for EXP and gold, since that pig boss at the end of the prison is kicking my ass repeatedly!

Yeah, grinding before that pig boss is a good idea. Actually, grinding before any boss seems to be a good idea.

I'm actually grinding right now so I can beat one of the grotto bosses. I've lost to him at least three times now. I thought I was going to beat him last night, as I was doing a lot of damage, but then he summoned a healing slime (or something like that) and it gave him 999 HP. Nooooooooooooo!!

Maybe I should go ahead and beat the game and *then* worry about the treasure maps/grottoes...

999?! That's so sad...he didn't even get there for me...he just kicked my ass and sent me home. It was sad. I've beaten two grottoes. So...was equinox at the end of your first grotto? And...if so, did you get the dragontail whip from it? There's one more treasure (not counting the map) that you can get, apparently, but after beating it three times, I still haven't gotten it. Hrm...

Yes, Equinox was at the end of my first grotto. I can't remember 100%, but I think I got a treasure map both times I beat him.

BTW, the other boss I was talking about was Shogum. I finally beat him last night at the end of my second grotto -- and then beat him at the end of about five more grottoes. (Yes, I played the game for a *few* hours last night.)

Actually, in the 10 or so grottoes I've conquered so far, I believe Shogum was the boss of all but two of them. Weird.

That's odd...I had no idea. I just wondered if you got all 3 treasures in the first dungeon. There's the treasure map (which counts as one treasure no matter how many maps you get), the dragontail whip, and something else I haven't gotten. I was just curious if you got it.

So far in the first grotto I've only received treasure maps and the dragontail whip.

I've beaten that grotto about five times now, BTW -- and each time I've received a different treasure map. I've beaten other low-level grottoes multiple times, too, and received multiple treasure maps from them, too. Not sure how many times you can get new treasure maps, though.

Oh, and one more thing: Of the 25 or so grottoes I've beaten so far, I've only received non-map treasures (weapons, etc.) three times.

Dang. That's sort of harsh.
