I just canceled my Super Mario All-Stars: Limited Edition pre-order because of this

When the folks at Amazon.com added Super Mario All-Stars: Limited Edition to their site a few days ago, I immediately pre-ordered it--despite the fact that I'm not a fan of Nintendo's 16-bit remakes of its NES Super Mario Bros. titles.

I canceled that pre-order this morning, in part because of this trailer (for Donkey Kong Country Returns, which will be released in North America on Nov. 21):

The highlight of this particular trailer, in my opinion, is the misty/smoky level shown at the 56-second mark. Oh, and the fire/lava level shown at the 1:05 mark.

You love that crazy artistic, moody stuff. Me too! But the highlight of this video for me? HIPPOS! My favorite animal, and rendered so freaking adorable in this trailer! OMG! That's already my favorite level.

Ah, yes, the hippos! I liked them, too :) Really, I like the whole damn thing at this point.

Angie! I think this is your first comment. Thanks :) Oh, and I'm glad you like the look of this game. You know you and Martha are welcome out here ANYTIME! Just let us know when you're on your way out and we'll get the guest bedroom set up and the Wii fired up ;)

It's about time that there was a new Donkey Kong game that doesn't involve bongos.

Yes, I agree! Although, admittedly, I've never played any of the bongo-ized DKs.

They weren't bad. Actually, I kind of loved the DK games with Bongos. It was super unique and incredibly challenging.

I've heard a lot of people say they loved the DK+bongo games, Justin. Maybe I'll have to give them a try eventually...
