Tee hee

While searching for a Parodius screenshot last night (for my PC Engine blog), I came across the following TV commercial (for the 1992 Famicom port of Parodius Da!).

It made me giggle, so I thought I'd share it here.

By the way, according to the always reliable commenters on YouTube, the gist of the commercial is that Octopus, Pentarou, Twinbee and Vic Viper race into their local game shop looking for a copy of Parodius Da! only to be told by the sales clerk that it's already sold out.

What a cute way to tie other similar games into the commercial. It'd be like Mario and Link racing to get the last copy of a Sonic game...HA! Like that would ever happen.

Or, it'd be like Link and Pit and Samus racing to get the last copy of the next Mario game. Hey, that would be a cute commercial :)

Nice find, I love watching old Famicom commercials.

Thanks, Sean! So, were the YouTube commenters correct in regards to the gist of the commercial?

Actually they didn't quite get it right. The store clerk doesn't say they are sold out, he says that the game isn't for sale yet. Then the voice over at the end of the CM says that it'll be on sale soon!

Thanks, Sean! I thought those pesky folks on YouTube might be wrong :)
