Any Puzzle Bobble fans out there?

I ask because I'm itching to jump into this Bubble Bobble spin-off (called Bust-a-Move in North America), but I'm not sure where to start.

I know what some of you are thinking: Start with the first one! Don't worry, I will. But I'd also like to know which of the series' 26 iterations are considered by fans to be the best.

I'm especially interested in versions that were released for the Dreamcast and the original PlayStation, by the way, although I'm willing to consider those released for other systems (even handhelds), too.

I've played several different versions (SNES, DS, probably a few more) and none of them seem terribly different from one another. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, so maybe just go with whatever's cheapest/more readily available?

I've never played the PS1 or DC versions, so they would be interesting to hear about!

I've never played a console version...I've only played in the arcade. I've always wanted to, but I've never been good enough at it to justify paying for a console version...

And...the CAPTCHA at the bottom of the screen today was "pnesse" It made me laugh.

Thanks, Kamiwoo! It's funny that they're all so similar. I mean, there are 26 different iterations!

I asked about PS1 versions in particular because I like that style of graphics best, I think. You know, 2D, sprite-based, etc.

Really, I like what I've seen of the Neo Geo version. I don't suppose that version was made available on the PS1, Saturn, etc?

Thanks for sharing your input, too, Justin! I think the arcade/Neo Geo versions are the ones I'm going to prefer in the end. I've only seen videos of them thus far, but I really like the graphics and overall art style.

Anyway, I'll let you know if I end up getting some other version -- and what I think of that version, of course!

As for the "pnesse" CAPTCHA: Ha ha! It's like some sort of French slang for penis :)

Me? I've got Super Bust-A-Move for the PS2. I've never played any others, but I quite like that one! I'm sure you could find it for a good price, but maybe you should take the advice of people who've played more than one version :)

Thanks, Anne! I'm going to have to look up some videos of the PS2 versions. If I like what I see, maybe I'll get the version you have and like :)

You know what? Looking at videos of some of the various versions, I may have to start by emulating the Neo Geo and Super Famicom versions. I like the graphics in these versions the best at this point. Unfortunately, I don't own a Neo Geo CD or a Super Fami at this point, so emulation it'll have to be until either of those things change...

Actually, the Game Gear version looks kind of nice, too. Of course, I also don't have a Game Gear. Doh!

The only one I own the original of is Puzzle Bobble 4 for the DC which is superb, but I like all the arcade versions :)

Kinda sounds like you can't go wrong!

Thanks for the input, Simon! Sounds like everyone has a different version. The good news is that all of you seem to like the version you have :)

I think you're right, Justin! I'll give a few of them a go and let everyone know what I think at a later date.
