A few glimpses of Dragon Quest X (Wii) and Ni no Kuni (PS3) gameplay

I'm looking forward to getting my grubby hands on a good number of games at the moment, but only two of them are RPGs: Dragon Quest X for Wii and Ni no Kuni for PS3. (Oh, I just thought of another one: Paper Mario for 3DS. Still, my point stands.)

Since neither will hit store shelves in North America for some time (if ever, in the case of Ni no Kuni), I've decided to busy myself with searching for gameplay videos of both of the above-mentioned titles.

Well, I hit the jackpot earlier today. Here, for instance, is a smattering of gameplay footage of the Level 5-Studio Ghibli collaboration, shot on the floor of the Tokyo Game Show 2011:

Sure, the game's battle scenes look a bit boring, but its world map is a stunner.

As for Dragon Quest X, well, I can't share any YouTube videos of that much-anticipated title's first official trailer (included in the just-released-in-Japan Dragon Quest Collection) here, but I can direct you to a site where you can download an FLV version of said trailer.

If you can't be bothered with downloading and figuring out how to view an FLV file, you can always check out this post over at tinycartridge.com.

I'll eat that DQX stuff right up. I don't know how much support it'll have from fans in America, but I hope it's tons!

Well, DQ IX sold pretty well here, I think, Justin, so I think with a good push from Nintendo, DQ X could do well, too.

Regardless, like you I'll be eating it up -- especially after DQ IX, which I love-love-loved. Really, I think the last game that make me so obsessed was ... what, Animal Crossing: City Folk?

I just finished Ni no Kuni (DS) yesterday morning - loved it from beginning to end. I can't really speak much about the PS3 version yet because it looks like some things have changed, but I'm definitely going to import it and find out :)

Consider me envious/jealous, Kimimi -- I'd *love* to play the DS version of Ni no Kuni. Sadly, it seems it'll never leave Japan :( Oh, well, maybe someday I'll finally get off my butt and learn Japanese :)

I think maybe that's true for me, too, Bryan. City Folk was one of those. DQIX had me glued. And if Terraria were on MY mac or a handheld system, I'd be glued to that 8 hours a day instead of just one or two. It's still amazing, and I've got almost 40 hours on it.

Oh, I forgot all about Terraria. You have no idea how much I wish that game was available for 3DS, DS, PSP, Xbox 360 or even Mac at this point. I want to play it! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it, though :)
