Metroid + Mega Man + Mischief Makers = Mighty Switch Force?

I may not own a 3DS, but that doesn't mean I'm ignoring the system until I obtain one.

For instance, I've had my eye on the downloadable title, Mighty Switch Force, since it was announced a few months ago.

Although the folks at WayForward--makers of, among other games, Contra 4 and the upcoming Aliens: Infestation--promised from the get-go that Mighty Switch Force would feature "Metroid-like gameplay," I was a bit skeptical of that until I saw the following, recently released trailer:

I don't know about you, but I think the gameplay featured in the teaser above was inspired by more than just Metroid. It also seems to have been inspired by Capcom's Mega Man titles and Treasure's Mischief Makers (aka Yuke Yuke!! Trouble Makers).

Here's hoping that Mighty Switch Force proves to be even half as appealing and enjoyable as the above-mentioned classics when it finally makes its way onto the Nintendo eShop.

I'm just thrilled that someone other than me has played and liked Mischief Makers. Oh my gosh. One of my favorite action/platformers and SOOOOO underrated.

I'll be getting this one when it releases, for sure.

Of course I've played and enjoyed Mischief Makers, Justin! I mean, I'm a lover of pretty much every Treasure game ever made, for starters. Plus, Mischief Makers was the first Enix game released for the N64 (if my memory is correct) *and* it was one of the only 2D platformer-esque games for the system. And then, of course, there's the fact that the game simply kicks ass -- as you suggested :P

It really does. It's my biggest regret...I sold it. I was frantically raising funds to buy Majora's Mask...NOT a fair trade off at all...

Ah, yes, I understand. I have even bigger regrets -- my brother and I sold off our NES and all of our NES games to buy a SNES and some games, and I think we eventually sold some/all of those games, too. Or maybe my brother has them? I'm similar uncertain as to what happened to our N64 and games. Sigh. Why were we so stupid back then??

Anyway, I don't think I ever owned Mischief Makers, but I definitely rented it on a number of occasions. It's really too bad it never made its way onto the Wii Virtual Console.
