Who cares what I'm playing, which games are *you* currently playing?

I know this is my blog and, as such, I'm free to be as self-centered as I want to be but, darn it, sometimes I get a bit sick of writing post after post about the games that I'm playing--or the games that I wish I was playing--at any given moment.

So, I'm turning things over to all of you this weekend. Which games are you currently playing, or which games are you looking forward to playing in the near-and-not-so-distant future?

Well its flattering to know you what to know what we're playing. Personally I'm going on and off with a few DS and GBA titles while at the same time taking a break on some PS2 games. But as for the future I have a few titles I wanna try like Arkham city. Also in the the next week I'm planning to buy the DS game "Solatorobo" which honestly surprised me that we actually were able to get localized since its a sequel to a relatively obscure playstation title (even by japanese standards). But we're gonna get it and I'm rewarding XSEED for such generosity by getting it next week.

That's quite a range of games, Matthew. I approve :)

Are you playing Link's Awakening via emulation, GB/GBA or 3DS, by the way?

Motherplayer: One of the reasons I maintain this blog is to interact with folks like you. I like writing, too, of course, but chatting with other gamers in the comments is much more enjoyable and rewarding.

Which GBA and DS games are you on and off with, by the way? Also, I fully understand rewarding XSEED for bringing Solatorobo to our shores. I plan on doing the same later this year. I also plan on getting the original PS game. I actually played it a long time ago, when it was first out, but I never bought it for some dumb reason...

Ah, nice assortment of games, Motherplayer!

Now I've finished Ni no Kuni I can carry on with Xian Jian 5 (never been any good at juggling two RPGs at once), after that I'm not sure... I'm thinking of finally sorting out that Shining Force 3 trilogy playthrough I've wanted to do for a while, but I'd quite like to play through Shadowrun (Mega CD version) too :/

I'm currently playing bits and pieces of things as I find time. A little Portal 2 here, some Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow there. I actually was entertaining extended family today though so i had the chance to play some Soul Calibur, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and some Mario Kart 64.

As for what I'm going to play, I'm really trying to free up the time to take on another play through of Final Fantasy VII. And I still need to beat Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Bryan Ochalla said...

Kimimi: Oh, I've sadly never played any of the three Shining Force 3 games -- which is a shame, since I loooooooved SF 1 and 2. Also, I've always wanted to play the Sega/Mega CD version of Shadowrun. Too bad it was never translated into English :(

Bryan Ochalla said...

Ah, my hat's off to you, Nick -- that's a great selection of games there. I'm sad to say I've never played Panzer Dragoon Saga. I had kind of moved on from my Saturn by the time the game was released in NA, and now it's soooo darn expensive. Maybe someday...

Still working on Dead Island, going for 100% sidequest completion. Haven't had a lot of game time this week, so it's been going slower than desired. Otherwise, Picross 3D on DS. It's breaking my brain...

Looking forward to: Dark Souls, Arkham City, and getting around to Radiant Silvergun.

Well, I'm on vacation visiting family at the moment, so not playing too many games... Shaun's still plugging away at Dissidia (he's logged in about 200 hours now) and I got some time with a DS otome game called Will 'o Wisp DS... It's nice, but the DS doesn't do justice to the game's visuals or sound, unfortunately (I bought it before I had a PSP, but the PSP version looks a lot nicer, unfortunately)

Bryan Ochalla said...

Ah, another Dead Island fan! I really have to check that one out. Which version are you playing, Brad? PS3 version?

As for Picross 3D: I've never played it. Having played regular ol' Picross, though, I can see how a 3D version would be a brain breaker.

Bryan Ochalla said...

200 hours w/ Dissidia, Anne? That's crazy! Have you played the game? If so, do you like it, too?

I like the name Will 'o Wisp, BTW. Too bad the game's not quite what you had hoped...

Well, Terraria is eating my life. And...I'm playing Scrabble on my 3DS for the DS. Other than that? Eh...not much.

Bryan Ochalla said...

Well, Terraria alone is quite enough, Justin, isn't it? I really need to board that train sometime soon...

As for Scrabble: I didn't even know there was a DS version of the game. It's good?

200 hours is crazy, indeed. I can't believe he still has things to do, but he does! I tried it a bit when we first got it and though I enjoyed it, I'm not really that interested in just fighting and fighting with no real story to keep me going, you know? Which is probably a good thing because if I had *really* liked it then Shaun and I would be fighting over who gets to play ;)

Will 'o Wisp is a pretty good name, isn't it? It's actually a gothic themed otome game where all the male characters are human-sized puppets, who somehow become more and more "human" in the presence of the protagonist. Unfortunately the DS's graphic capabilities just aren't up to par, so the illustrations, which look beautiful, are a bit grainy, you know? The PSP screens I've seen are a lot clearer, but that's probably because both handheld versions are ports of the original for the PS2.

Just finished playing Witch's Wish. I am now debating what to move onto. Thinking about playing White Knight Chronicles.

Bryan Ochalla said...

Yes, I guess you're right -- that it would have been a bad thing if both you and Shaun enjoyed the game that much :)

I've never played Dissidia, BTW. I like the looks of it, but it kind of sounds like something that wouldn't completely capture me, you know? Still, maybe I should try it at some point.

It's interesting that even the DS version of Will o' Wisp is a PS2 port. Is it basically an adventure game, where read a lot of text and make decisions once in a while?

If so, I'll bet those are fun once in a while -- as long as you can understand the language, of course. Too bad few such games ever make it to the States...

Bryan Ochalla said...

Hey there, Sierra Three! Thanks for the comment :)

What is Witch's Wish? Or, what kind of game is it, and what system are you playing it on? I like the sounds of it, regardless.

I've been curious about the White Knight Chronicles games myself. Of course, I don't yet have a PS3, so I can't do much about my curiosity at the moment. If you play it at some point, let me know what you think of it, will you?

Wife and I just had a Famicom 1 hour mini marathon on a rainy afternoon after taking the dog for a walk.

In the lineup:

Nuts and Milk
Wrecking Crew
Antarctic Adventure
Binary Land
Warpman

All classics:)

RetroKingSimon said...

The easy answer for that from me is... keep watching Red Parsley! :P Haha, but I've been enjoying some Neo Geo shmups over the weekend and have also been playing a very famous doujin shmup and a Commodore 64 platform game :)

Bryan Ochalla said...

Oh, those are some great games, Sean! I especially like Warpman and Wrecking Crew :) Can you play Wrecking Crew with two players, by the way? If so, I never knew that!

WELL I SHOULD BE PLAYING DANTES INFERNO RIGHT NOW.

But my xbox 360 controller seems to have finally given up the ghost, on the day I finally splurge on Xbox 360 games xD
So I'm stuck on my playstation 2 playing... *sob* Final Fantasy XII :(

Bryan Ochalla said...

Well, you know I've been keeping an eye on Red Parsley, Simon. I'm pretty sure I commented on all of your most recent gaming posts :P

BTW, your recent posts about Fantasy Zone and Ordyne prompted me to play both of those games over the weekend. I especially enjoyed playing Fantasy Zone again :)

Scrabble is in the DSi shop, and it's a pretty good adaptation. I've found that the scoring might be a teensy bit wonky...like...if you play two words on one double word score at once, you only get credit for one of them. I'm pretty sure that's not the real rules, but...it's official...so...I dunno.

Bryan Ochalla said...

Huh. Interesting! Can't wait until I have a DSi or a 3DS so I can play some of these downloadable games :)

Sean said...

You can play Wrecking Crew with two players, just not simultaneously! You take turns, one as Mario and the other as Luigi.

Bryan Ochalla said...

Ah, I didn't know that, Sean! Sounds fun :) Allowing two players to play simultaneously would be fun, too, I'm guessing -- or at least crazy :)

Trxd: Again, sorry for letting this comment sit in my Blogger Spam folder for so long. I didn't know it was there! Anyway, do you have a working 360 controller now?
