I swear Reggie Fils-Aime is trying to torture me

For those of you who don't know who Reggie Fils-Aime is: He's Nintendo of America's president and chief operating officer.

As for why he's torturing me: His employer, Nintendo of Japan, just (well, yesterday) announced that yet another color will be added to the company's 3DS line of handhelds soon.

Specifically, the "Ice White" 3DS system seen below will be released in Japan on Nov. 3.

A few weeks before, of course, the company will make this "Misty Pink" 3DS system available to the country's masses:

Sadly, Fils-Aime has yet to say if either or both of these systems will be coming to the States--and, if so, when we can expect them to arrive.

Here's hoping at least the pink one hits North American store shelves before Christmas. If not, I may just have to go on a PC Engine-centric shopping spree instead...

The white one is very cool yes. But, the black inner portion for the upper screen just sorta' kills the consistency and.. Well, for that reason, black is the only 3DS colour I'd ever go for, unless they wanna' release a version where the upper screen part is the same colour as the rest of the unit.

I used to feel the same way, SUIKA, so I understand where you're coming from. Interestingly, though, the black upper screen has sort of grown on me in recent weeks/months. I think it has to do with the fact that it helps me get over the awkwardness produced by the system's different-sized screens.

True about the different screen sizes. Suppose there's no consistency to begin with. Also! Did you see the Monster Hunter 3G Limited Edition bundle they just announced? It's white too, but has an illustration on the front. I think that pretty much does it for me. Either I get that version, or wait for a new 3DS model entirely. Options, options.

I did see the MH3G system, SUIKA, and I think it looks pretty slick! I'm hardly a huge Monster Hunter fan, though -- I've actually never played any of the series' games -- so I won't be getting that version even if it's released in the US.

As for waiting for a new 3DS model -- I understand that, too. I'm really torn right now between desperately wanting a pink 3DS and thinking I should wait for the re-design, which likely will look a lot slicker than the current design.

In the end, it's all going to come down to release dates for me. If, say, the pink 3DS isn't released until after Christmas or isn't released at all in the States, I'll likely just wait and see if Nintendo announces a re-design in the spring. If the pink one comes out before Thanksgiving, though, I'm probably going to be in trouble :)

If I could go back and do it all again, I'd probably buy red or white instead of blue...but in the end...meh.

Yes, Justin, that's the right attitude to have, IMO. I actually quite like the red ones, by the way, but I'm so far this pink 3DS hole (that sounds wrong...) that I can't go back now!

Of course I meant to say that I'm so far DOWN this pink 3DS hole. Ugh. And I wasn't even drinking this time :P

Ha! I knew what you meant. Still made me laugh.

I want Mario Kart 7 so bad on the day of release. SO BAD!! And that Ice white is slaying my life. But I won't buy a 3DS until Nintendo drop the inevitable 3DSii which comes with a 2nd circle pad built onto the system. Which quite frankly, is how they should have released the 3DS in the first place.

Hey there, Random J! Oh, I understand the interest in Mario Kart 7. For me, it has gone from being a game I was just barely interested in (when it was announced at E3) to being a game I must have, no matter what.

I also understand the desire to wait for the inevitable revision. Honestly, half me wants the pink/white systems to be released in NA before Christmas so I can ask for one as a Christmas gift, while the other half of me hopes they aren't released in NA at all and that a revision is announced in the spring.

The latter situation would be mighty tough on me, though, since I Luigi's Mansion, Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are all sure to be out before the revision, and Animal Crossing is likely to be out before then, too.
