A trio of terrific(ally gay) tumblrs

Last weekend, I promoted (by way of this post) one of the many tumblrs I tend to frequent. I thought I'd promote a few others today--namely, the trio of tumblrs operated by regular commenter Steve Pixel.

F*CK YEAH CHO ANIKI!!!!!!!--As its name implies, the focus of this NSFW (not safe for work) tumblr is the series of Masaya/NCS Corp. shmups that feature scantily-clad muscle men and surreal imagery. Cho Aniki isn't its sole focus, though; it also includes GIFs, illustrations and screenshots of games, manga and anime that are stylistically similar to the Super Big Brother titles.

Obscure Video Games--Although I love the aforementioned tumblr with all of my heart, I'd by lying if I said I preferred it to this one, which focuses on  GIFs, illustrations and screenshots of "weird old games that most people have forgotten." A good example: the crazy PC Engine cover art seen below, which has long been one of my favorites (due to the mustachioed, muscle-bound dude at its center, of course).

Pixelboys--Last, but not least, is this tumblr, which focuses on male nudity in video games. As I'm sure you can tell by that description, it's completely NSFW--unless, of course, your workplace allows you to look at pixelated and polygonal penises and such.

So, there you have it--three more game-related tumblrs to check out next time you're in the mood for such things. If you know of any others that I should be aware of, by the way, please let me know about them in the comments section below.

Note: only two of the tumblrs discussed above are explicitly gay. Still, all three are quite terrific.

I'm going to check them all out. It's no longer updated and it's not gay in any way, but easternmind.tumblr.com is my favorite Tumblr. It's a repository of cool stuff.

Oh, I miss Eastern Mind, too, lunch :( I can't remember how I was turned on to it, but it was a great one. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Japanese games (especially niche-y ones).

Thanks so much for doing this Bryan! I'm coming up on my one year tumblr anniversary, and it's been about a year since I started following you religiously as well. One of my friends retweeted the videogamesmademegay tumblr's twitter, which led me to your blog, which led me to the Gayme Bar podcast, and all you guys inspired me to start blogging. Making gifs is very time-consuming, but it's totally changed my life for the better, and I've made some great new friends in the process. So while I'm here, let me pimp out some of my gaymer friends on tumblr who you should follow that you haven't mentioned so far: slitherup, atlusshrugged, apebit, hitmeupman, nathandrakeismylover, hipsterhangout, chokoraitodisuko, bishyt, kaze-x, and undeadbilly. Sorry to anyone I missed! You really MUST visit atlusshrugged since he does lots of original content, including PC Engine gifs. slitherup does some great gifs too, just not as often.

You're most welcome, Steve! Also, I love the story about how you came to find and follow my blog. What a small world!

Thanks, too, for pointing out other tumblrs I and other folks here should follow. I'll check them out later tonight or tomorrow :)

I was SO CONVINCED for a long time that YOU were the Obscure Video Games tumblr, Bryan.

Ha! I could see that since we do seem to have very similar taste in games. I do also promote this blog sometimes too. The weird Japanese games are really more why I follow this blog than the whole gay thing; but it does make it more fun to have that in common too. What's even funnier was there was even a point where I thought Bryan might be doing your tumblr, Justin.

Oh, that's great, Justin! Believe me, I've meant to start a tumblr or two over the years, but I just can't see how I'd be able to do it without this blog suffering. So, I'll leave tumblr to experts like you and Steve :)

I love all of this confusion :) Also, yes, we definitely seem to have similar tastes in games, Steve. I'm kind of glad to hear that you follow this blog more for the weird Japanese games I write about than my gayness, Steve. Not that this blog is all that gay, really--well, other than its overt pinkness :P
