A hearty holiday thank you to a reader who'd prefer to remain anonymous

Over the weekend, someone who has been following this blog for quite a while now surprised me by sending me a late birthday gift (his words, not mine) via The Gay Gamer's Facebook page.

Specifically, the rather shy reader in question gave me a Nintendo eShop card.

Such a gesture deserves public acknowledgement, don't you think? Well, I do, so I'm offering up a virtual shout-out to this anonymous follower courtesy of this post.

I've already spent a portion of the eShop card's balance, by the way. On what, you ask? On Kaz Ayabe's Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale, which is on sale for just $5 at the moment.

I'm not entirely sure what I'll buy with the remainder. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, perhaps? Or maybe Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney--Dual Destinies plus a couple of eShop-only titles I've had my eye on for a while now?

Feel free to chime in with any suggestions you may have in the comments section below. Also, thanks again, mysteriously benevolent reader!

Very nice gift. You certainly can't go wrong with A Link Between Worlds.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking right now. I'm going to have a look at the eShop tonight, though, just in case something else jumps out at me...

Nice! I wish it was possible to gift games directly to my friends, instead of having to send eShop gift cards, though! (How cool would it be to turn on your 3DS and have that unwrapped gift icon just sitting there, and you don't even know what it is?)

I was just wondering if you'd grabbed Attack of the Friday Monsters! :) I also picked it up recently at the sale price and already played through it--it is short but when I turned it on I ended up just playing through the whole thing, and it sucked up like half a day (admittedly I spent way more time than I should have playing the card game trying to unlock the last cards, something I failed to do despite trying for so long). Anyway I really enjoyed it, I'm sure you will too!

D'awww, that is really cool. :) Friday Monsters is an excellent choice, as is Link Between Worlds.

Rune Factory 4 is great, if you like farming-sim-fantasy hybrids. Crimson Shroud is another 5$ sale title right now that, if you are a tabletop DnD type gamer, might find a lot of fun.

Have you played Crazy Construction yet? It's a really great puzzle game from G Style, and it's on sale now too (only $2 or $3 I think). I just bought it, and I am completely hooked. There's a demo if you're interested.

Oh, that would be awesome, Michael! You should send an e-mail to NOA with this idea, I think :)

Also, thanks for letting me know your thoughts on Attack of the Friday Monsters. I've heard that it's short, but also that it's worth it, so I couldn't help but pick it up right away.

I'm hoping to play it quite a bit tomorrow, so maybe I'll complete it in an afternoon, too? I'll let you know what I think of it regardless.

Yeah, it's definitely really cool, I agree! Also, I already have Crimson Shroud, so no reason for me to pick up that one. I was kind of thinking of buying Starship Damray (Damrey?), but I'm not sure. Also not sure about A Link Between Worlds. Gah! Oh, and thanks for reminding me about Rune Factory 4. I'm curious about that one, but not sure I want to buy it yet...

Aw, thank you, Gaming Girl. That's really sweet! Happy holidays to you, and keep up the great work RE: your blog!

Hmmm, I don't think I've even heard of that one before, Steve. I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have a suspicion that they can't do it for some reason (I don't think any console supports gifting like that?) but I decided to email them anyway. Maybe something will happen?

You're probably right, and there's probably a good reason for it, too. Still, like you said, it would be cool to open up your system and see a present waiting for you--or to be able to do that for someone else :)

The Wii has game gifting, provided the other person is on your friend list. I sent a few downloadable games to my nieces and nephews that way. It would be a nice feature for 3DS.

Ah, I completely forgot about that, Terry! I would guess it is possible on the 3DS then. Hmmm, wonder if we'll ever see it included in a future OS update?

How sweet of your anonymous benefactor! Can't wait to chat about our impressions of Attack of the Friday Monsters :)

Oh, yeah, I can't wait either, Anne! I'm really hoping I like it, as literally everyone who has told me they've played it also told me they've loved it :)
