That sound you heard earlier this morning was me crowing in reaction to Square Enix's announcement that it will be releasing Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call in North America (and Europe, too, it seems) sometime later this year.
The first Theatrhythm Final Fantasy title is one of my most-played 3DS games and was one of my favorite titles, period, of 2012, so I'm a tad excited that I'll soon be able to spend some quality time with this expanded follow-up as well.
Unfortunately, the folks at Square Enix didn't include a specific release date in this morning's announcement, although they did share the game's price ($39.99).
They also didn't reveal whether or not the spiffy special edition Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call 3DS XL system that will find its way onto Japanese store shelves in a couple of days will make its way to the West.
I'm kind of guessing it won't, to be honest, but if it does it's be a pretty safe bet that I'll buy one--unless Nintendo of America decides to, say, bring over the hot pink XL that's been available in Europe for ages now before then.
Anyway, are any of you similarly itching to pick up a copy of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call whenever it finally hits our shores?

I'll buy the game for sure. I was sold on it the moment I saw all the new additions from Final Fantasy XI. I may have let out a small squee when I saw the ferry ride from Mhaura to Selbina was going to be a level, since I spent many hours fishing on that boat. No way I can resist the 3DS XL if they bring it over as well.
Ah, you've reminded me that I have to go through FFXI again sometime.
BTW, will you be getting the digital version or physical version of Curtain Call? I'm going with the physical one myself. In fact, I've already pre-ordered it.
Can't wait until July (which is when it's supposedly going to be released)...
I'll be getting the physical version. I have a few of those 18-game cases from Club Nintendo begging to be filled, and I like being able to move games between the 3DS XL and the 2DS.
Ah, yes, that sounds like sound reasoning to me! I like to be able to move games between my NA 3DSes, too.
I'm curious why you haven't decided to jump on the Japanese eShop release, since you have a Japanese 3DS! Just too many things to play right now?
Hey there, Anne! Actually, I was all set to pre-order it, and then I decided I'd wait a while to see if it was announced for NA release.
I mainly made that decision because, like you suggested, I just have too many games I'm trying to play right now--or will be trying to play soon. I'm just about halfway through Etrian Odyssey IV, for instance, and by the time I'm finally done with it The Denpa Men 3 will be out, then Tomodachi Life, etc.
Plus, I kind of feel like a game like this is going to need all of the NA support it can get, so I'd like to help with that a bit.
You're getting the game at launch, though, right? Or, rather, your husband is? If so, I look forward to hearing his or your thoughts on it!
Oh I hear ya. And it's always nice to support western releases when possible. We'll be getting at least one copy... and maybe a second if I really want to try the multiplayer function!
Man, I am sooooo jealous that your hubby is getting the Curtain Call LL! I hope he loves it :) And who knows? Maybe we'll get it here in the States, too--yeah, right!--so I can pick up one myself...
Let's hope he likes it! He'd never ask for a 3DS but he put 100+ hours into the original Theatrhythm, so I thought it'd be a fun gift. Also I'm so busy with Monster Hunter 4 on my Japanese 3DS that I don't want to share :P
Would be awesome if they brought it over to the states!
