My favorite GameBoy photos (so far)

While prepping yesterday's post about the GameBoy's 25th anniversary, I spent some time wading through all of the photos I've taken of my GameBoy "acquisitions" over the last few years.

Although I think the shots I've snapped of, say, my DS, Game Gear and even WonderSwan games are more appealing (in general) than the ones I've snapped of my GameBoy titles, I like enough of the latter to share a smattering of them here--you know, so we can keep the GameBoy anniversary train rolling for at least a few more hours.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland

Kitchen Panic

Japanese Tetris box, cartridge and manual

Wario Land II + GameBoy Pocket

Balloon Kid cartridge and case

BurgerTime Deluxe's Japanese packaging

Top flap of Painter Momopie's box

Pokémon Red

If you'd like to see a couple (OK, a lot) more photos of GameBoy and other handheld carts and systems, head over to this Flickr album of mine at your earliest convenience.

That "in slot" WL2 picture is pure class :)

I really like the way you position GG carts "standing" in their open cases, does that not work for Gameboy cartridges?

Thanks, Michael! Also, I can't remember if I've ever tried the ol' "GG position" with GB carts and cases. I can't imagine I haven't tried it, though, which leads me to believe it doesn't work as well? Anyway, I'll be sure to put it to the test next time I snap some photos of one of my GB games--which I have a feeling will happen quite soon :)

Update: I took a few photos of a recent GB pick-up and tried to pose it in the "standing" position a la many of my GG photos. It worked, although it was kind of a pain. GG carts are more suited to such shots thanks to the grooves that are a part of the cases, if that makes sense. Still, it's not impossible with GB games, so I'll try to do more such shots in the future.

Cool, I guess that's a later-this-week update then? :)

I don't mean to make photography a pain for you, unless you really like the effect though!! I suppose if you were really keen on it you could stick something behind the cart to prop it up better.

Ummmm, probably more like a next week update, I think. I'm on a bit of a Madou Monogatari kick at the moment--which is a not-so-subtle way of indicating I've got another MM-focused "photo post" coming up in a few days.

I'll get some more GB photos up soon, too, though don't you worry. I've certainly got enough GB games (JP ones, especially) to photograph right now, that's for sure!

One more update from me, Michael: I took a few more photos of a JP GB game "standing" in its case today, and I think at least one of them turned out really nicely. So, expect to see that soon-ish. Probably not next week, but definitely within a few weeks.
