I'm pretty sure this new Captain Toad (Wii U) trailer couldn't be more precious if it tried

Nintendo of Japan just released a new trailer for the title that's known to folks in the English-speaking world as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (its Japanese title translates to March Onwards! Captain Toad), and it makes the game look so darn adorable that I'm once again feeling like an idiot for not (yet) owning a Wii U.

Anyway, enough whining. Instead, let's focus on the fact that this trailer reveals that Toadette will make an appearance in Treasure Tracker (and even will be a playable character, I think). Oh, and the finished product--due out in Japan on Nov. 13, North America on Dec. 5 and the rest of the world sometime in 2015--will feature more than 70 stages.

I was interested in this title before, but this ABSOLUTELY clinches it. It's about time Toad got his own game, and THIS is the game he deserves! It's so adorable. The stages look like little puzzle boxes. AND TOADETTE! I'm so ready for this.

Yeah, this seems like the perfect game for Toad (and Toadette), doesn't it? Here's hoping this game becomes a series--and maybe earns a sequel on new 3DS or the 3DS' follow-up?

I wouldn't mind a fresh series but, I hope this warms them up to actually trying new ideas. Sequelitis is one of Nintendo's problems and one that is currently leading to the monotonous "riskless" games that the big publishers are making now.

By the looks of the trailer I'm guessing you'll have to unlock Toadette. Hopefully she can be unlocked before the credits.

It is definitely a game I'll be getting.

In regards to the WiiU, I'd say it's a value used or refurbished from Nintendo. It has some great 1st party games and the indies are churning out some great stuff for it. If you need physical games ( I know I do) and enjoy playing the quirky 3rd party titles that Nintendo generally gets, you're out of luck. My 2 cents...

As a day 1 WiiU owner, I would've sold mine and picked one up at the end of the generation for a pittance. I've only held on for SMT x Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 2, Fire Emblem U, Xenoblade Chronicles X, & any quirky titles that may show up. I'm not one for the usual Mario & friends Nintendo sequels. It helps that the Wii backlog works on my WiiU otherwise the droughts for a guy like me would be tremendous.

Oh, yes, I agree. And I'm not calling for them to turn this into a long-running series like NSMB or the 3D Mario games, etc. I personally think one or even two more Captain Toad games might be nice, though, especially if one of them were portable.

Yeah, I got the same feeling, Sam, especially since the trailer made it seem like Toad has to rescue her. Oh, how I wish a game like this would start with the girl rescuing the guy...

Wait, so are you saying you would recommend picking up a refurbed Wii U system, Chief, or not? Sorry, I'm a bit confused by your comment.

Refurbished WiiU is a fantastic thing and $200 straight from Nintendo. If you are going to buy 1 I'd do that if You aren't set on a brand new one.

Ah, good! I'm actually thinking I may go that route if the system doesn't receive some sort of price drop between now and when I pick up the system :)
