Kimono-wearing woman + Samurai Warriors 3 = LOL

What do you do when your "hardcore" Wii game (Samurai Warriors 3) sells "just" 121,000 copies in its first week (in Japan)?

If you're Koei, you put out an ad that shows an aging woman (wearing a kimono, no less) enjoying the title:

Aha, a vintage Gay Gamer post! ;) I was searching Google for Samurai Warriors 3 info and look what popped up! I actually just bought this over the weekend for $5 new on sale... I couldn't pass it up. I hope it's not as awful as Google has lead me to believe... I've only dabbled in the Samurai Warriors games. Have you played any, Bryan?

Hey there, Anne! So funny that this popped up when you searched for Samurai Warriors 3 info :) As for whether or not I've played any of this series' games: Nope! I don't know much about them, to tell you the truth.

Why did you buy this game, BTW? Did you buy it just because it was cheap, or do you have an interest in this series in general?

Truthfully, the driving reason behind my purchase was the fact that it was a whopping $5 new. What a steal! A local department store seems to be getting rid of their games, and has them heavily marked down and is now giving an additional 75% off those marked down prices. I just bought Animal Crossing there 2 weeks ago for $14, and now it's $5, too! I hate it when that happens D:

Anyways, naturally the majority of the games left were Wii games, so I rooted through to see if I could find anything worth picking up. I ended up getting Samurai Warriors 3 and Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility both for $5 each, so I'm quite happy about that!

With this new Pokemon x Nobunaga's Ambition game coming out, I admit I've gotten a little more interested in the range of games set in feudal Japan. Actually, surprisingly enough, I did some research and found that Samurai Warriors is the action version of Nobunaga's Ambition, much like Dynasty Warriors is the action version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Who know! So all the characters that appear in Samurai Warriors are the same ones that appear in Nobunaga's Ambition. I'm looking forward to checking it out before the Pokemon game comes out as a bit of background research :)

Whoops, sorry Bryan, I didn't mean to keep repeating "it was $5! $5!" ... I forgot I'd written that in my original comment, haha

Ha! No need to be sorry, Anne. I didn't think you were repeating "It was $5! $5!" over and over again :)

Anyway, I'm jealous that you found so many cheap Wii games! I'll be interested to hear what you think of Samurai Warriors 3 and the Harvest Moon game, especially.

As for Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors being linked to the old Nobunaga and Romance of the Three Kingdom games: I didn't know that! Of course, I don't know much about any of those four series, so that may be the reason. Still, I find it interesting.

I'm *awfully* interested in that Pokemon x Nobunaga game, by the way. All fingers and toes are crossed in the hopes that Nintendo somehow localizes it for the AU, EU and NA markets, although I know that's extremely unlikely...
