Out.com considers 'the gayest video games'

Out magazine rarely, if ever, covers video games, so I was a bit surprised when I saw an article about "the gayest video games" pop up on Out.com recently.

The article (if it can be called that) starts out well enough, with the following, flirty text: "From the enduring love affair of the Contra boys to the sexplosion of Street Fighter, here are our favorite, gayest video games."

It kind of goes downhill from there, though. For instance, here's the text that accompanies Super Mario Bros., the first entry on Out's list: "Cleaning pipes and taking names." Duke Nukem's is even worse: "Chasing pussy was just a front for the muscled Chelsea queen."

Oh, well, at least they're talking about video games. Right?

So what ywould you list as your top 10 gayes video games of all time?

my list would have to have:
Bully
Fable
Soulcalibur 3 or 4 (whichever one had the romantic endings for cilic and maxi)
not sure on the rest of the list

on an unrelated note i think a Mario based MMO game would be cool

This article is very poor.

Hey there, Quinn!

It's hard to say what my top 10 list would be, as it would depend on whether I was going for irreverence--which is what I think the Out writer/editor was going for--or seriousness.

If I was going for seriousness, I'd probably have to include Bully, the Cho Aniki games, Dragon Age: Origins, Fable I and II, Fallout 2 and 3, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, the Persona games, Star Ocean: The Second Story and Till the End of Time, The Temple of Elemental Evil and maybe Valkyria Chronicles.

Some of those are "gayer" than others, but it's worth mentioning that all include at least a gay character or storyline.

If I was going for irreverence, my list would be quite different. I'll have to give that one some thought and maybe post that list in the future :)

Oh, and anonymous: Thank you for commenting, too! Like I said in my post about the article, I'm glad they're talking about games, but I wish they'd do so in a more intelligent manner. This particular article reminds me of something I'd see on Kotaku :(

I'm more interested in seeing the article about Pete Wentz. That's HUGE! I always supected, though...

My gayest video games choices would probably include Bully (although I've yet to play it), Katamari Damacy (rainbows, much?), and maybe Twilight Princess for the shirtless wrestling scene alone...besides, Link is as asexual as Dumbledore...it won't be long before it comes to light that he's gay, too.

:-P

I'm pretty sure that Pete Wentz cover is old, Justin--just so you know.

Anyway, I like your choices! I'd choose Katamari Damacy, too, if I was going for irreverence. And Musch March, of course :)
