The best first level ever?

If someone asked you to name the best first level in all of video game-dom, which one would you choose? Nathan over at videogamesarerad.com believes the following is the only answer:

You know what? I agree with him 100 percent, as Super Mario Bros.' World 1-1 does a better job of introducing people to a game's mechanics and rules than any other "first level" I've played.

If you have a minute or two to spare, I'd highly recommend visiting videogamesarerad.com to read Nathan's thoughts on the matter.

I can't think of ANY level that would fit the bill more than this one.

I was going to say Super Mario Bros 1-1 as well and then I saw the link and that you agreed. :) But in awesomeness - the first stage of Espgaluda (with it's sweet mechanichs and fantastic soundtrack) beats it!

Ah, most awesome first level -- I'll have to give that some thought! Sadly, I've never played Espgaluda, so I'll have to take your word that it's awesome :)

I am new to your blog! And I love this post, I too agree 100% for Super Mario Bros! It's the best classic game ever.
