Well, this sucks ...

Shortly after publishing this post earlier this year, I went ahead and pre-ordered a copy of the homebrew Genesis/Mega Drive game, Pier Solar.

It arrived a few weeks ago, but I didn't open it until today because, well, I don't have a Genesis at the moment. (I own one, but it's in the closet of my childhood bedroom--which is, oh, 2,000 or so miles away from my current bedroom.)

Anyway, when I opened it this morning--so I could ogle it and snap some photos of it--this is what I found:

Case? Check. Manual? Check. Poster and stickers? Check? Pier Solar cartridge? Er. Uh. Well...

I just contacted the folks at WaterMelon, the game's developer/publisher, so hopefully they'll respond shortly and either offer to send me a replacement or give me a refund.

Oh wow. I almost pre-ordered the game myself but figured I didn't need it that much.

Since they probably have only a few people actually putting the games together it makes sense there might have been a memory lapse when they went to put the game in your case.

Hopefully they can give you a replacement game!

Yeah, I'm hoping it was some sort of mix up, Marcus.

I did receive a response to my e-mail, by the way. The person who wrote me said he will send out a replacement.

Fingers crossed that he's telling the truth!

It just blows my mind that they could do such an error. :o

By the way, that game made me almost throw my controller at my TV. I hate the last boss. I almost beat it but didn't - like ten times - and then I decided to never play Pier Solar again. Never, ever again.

I have a nagging feeling that I wrote about this earlier in some comment... Hm.

Yeah, it's a bit baffling. Although who knows? Maybe one guy packs all of them up and he was tired (or drunk) when he got to mine?

I don't remember you commenting on this game before, BTW. Sorry to hear you had a hard time with the last boss. Did you like the game otherwise?

Yes! Some places were confusing but other than that - it was great! A bit too much cheesy humor, maybe, but that isn't something I would necessarily hold against them (the guys at WaterMelon). I actually arrived at the last boss - something I rarely do in RPG's (due to the lack of interest) so I'd give it 3,5 out of 5 if I were to review it. But I don't really like to grade games with numbers. And now I'm ranting again. Note to self: go to bed.

Well, that's good to know. Thank you for sharing some of your thoughts on the game. Hopefully I'll get a replacement sooner or later and I'll be able to share mine, too.

Yikes. That's just the kind of thing that makes me want to throw a tantrum.

Bryan Ochalla said...

I didn't throw a tantrum, Justin, but I may end up doing that if I don't (eventually) get some sort of replacement. Ugh.

Viewtiful_Justin said...

Yeah. You'd definitely be entitled to a tantrum.

I'm hopeful it won't have to come to that. At least this little delay will give me a chance to either buy a new Genesis or get my old one from my parents.

Now THAT must be frustrating! I do hope they follow through on their promise to send the replacement.

If not: go for the tantrum!

I hope they follow through, too, Sean! If not, Tantrum City, here I come ;)
