A few more pieces of Famicom porn

Remember how I said (in this post) that I recently acquired copies of Baseball and Golf for the Famicom? Well, at the same time I purchased those "Pulse Line" carts I also picked up a rather beat-up copy of Nintendo's Balloon Fight.

You know what that means: More photos of Famicom boxes and cartridges struttin' their stuff on our dining room table and living room floor!

For more photos of my Famicom collection, check out this Flickr set.

You have a gorgeous floor! And...it IS kinda beat up...but it looks well loved.

Thanks, Justin! Our floors are pretty darn nice, if I do say so myself. (Not like I had anything to do with them, of course! Kudos to the person who had them put in when the house was build all the way back in 1928.)

As for the game, yeah, the box definitely is a bit worn. LIke you said, though, it seems like the wear is due to love. Really, I'm thankful for the wear, as it made the game affordable for me (CIB copies of Balloon Fight can be expensive).

I've never played this one but I like the artwork :) Is the game good?

Unf, Famicom porn. My personal favorite kind!

Beat-up boxes aren't so bad, as long as they're mostly intact and all that. I think my personal pet peeve are stickers on boxes/cases that leave all that icky residue behind if you try to remove them...

Simon: The game's main mode ("Balloon Fight") is a Joust rip-off, so if you like that game you'll like this one, too. Personally, I think the game's other mode ("Balloon Trip") is where it's at.

I'm not sure how to explain it, so I'll just post this link to a gameplay video of this mode -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKP0R6vGc0Y

I play the "Balloon Trip" mode quite often on the Wii (the game is available via the Virtual Console) even though I'm not very good at it.

Anyway, try it sometime and let me know what you think of it!

Kamiwoo: I'm usually pretty anal about the games I buy being in good condition, but in this case I couldn't be too picky because 1) complete-in-box copies of Balloon Fight don't often pop up on eBay and 2) when they do, they're pretty expensive. So, this one was a good compromise :)

Also, you're right about it being OK if they're a bit banged up but still in good condition otherwise. I really liked that the image on this box hasn't faded and hasn't been obscured by stickers or scribbles or whatnot. It has a few creases and tears? Eh, I'm OK with that!

That is a nice one - Balloon Fight is a gem. My Ice Climber box is in about the same condition as that.

Nice find!!

Thanks, Sean! Yeah, Balloon Fight is one of my favorites. I hope to get Ice Climber and Wrecking Crew at some point, too, although I'm sure it'll be awhile before that happens :)

Thanks, Famicom Freak! I love it too, although I guess that's kinda obvious :)
