Guess who made an appearance at the Cure Cosplay Festival?

Me! Well, kind of.

Actually, someone dressed as Takakazu Abe, "star" of Junichi Yamakawa's infamous (and meme-inspiring) bara manga from 1987, Kuso Miso Technique, made an appearance at the above-mentioned event, which recently took place in Tokyo.

You recognize the handsome face in the photo above, right? If not, turn your eyes toward this blog's banner/header--or toward the profile pic I use here and on Twitter.

Just looked him up, wow, it seemed so hot until all the defecation...

Yeah, the ending definitely isn't for those who are at all squeamish...

I was wondering what that was from! Anyway, I love how they put a mask over their face, haha. You don't see cosplay like that very often

Hey there, Anne! Yep, my "mascot" of sorts was stolen from a racy/nasty manga from 1987! For some reason I've always found it a bit hilarious. Plus, I liked the idea of putting a joystick in his hand and turning him into a gamer. Oh, and he *kind of* looks like me. So, there you have it -- all of the reasons I chose Abe as my avatar/"mascot" :)

As for the mask over the face -- yeah, I don't imagine you see that much at cosplay events. Of course, if he hadn't used a mask people probably wouldn't have known who he was!

Ha ha! That's exactly the reaction I was looking/hoping for, Justin :)

BTW, I have to thank Jeremiah (of GaymeBar fame) for letting me know about this :)

Dude, I totally know what I should wear at future conventions now. Awesome find (and amusing to read about the history over at Wikipedia, too).

Zigfried: I'm glad I provided you with a bit of cosplay inspiration! It certainly seems like it would be a cheap and easy costume to whip together, doesn't it?

I'd wear it myself for Halloween, but I fear it would require too much explanation. That said, the explanation more than likely would scare a few people :)

Who is that handsome manga character, btw?
