In his dreams: Curtis Bathurst’s Leon the Orchid Hunter HuCard art

Seattle-based artist Curtis Bathurst, who does contract work for a number of area game companies, recently stated on his blog that two of his favorite things are Leon the Orchid Hunter and PC Engine HuCards.

In an attempt to combine those two loves, Bathurst produced the following illustration.

To see more of Bathurst’s stuff, check out his blog, actualpinecone.com, and/or his Flickr photostream.

Wow, I've no idea who this Leon fellow is but that's awesome! HuCards do often have great artwork too. One of my favourites has always been that volleyball one with the guy getting smacked in the head :P

Yeah, HuCards do often have great art, don't they, Simon! Also, I have no idea what a Leon The Orchid Hunter game would be like, but I'm guessing either an RPG or a platformer :)

I really like the Hucards too. I only have 6 or 7 now but next to the Famicom carts I think they are the most attractive game medium out there! That Orchid Hunter art looks nice too.

I agree, Sean. The tiny size of the HuCards, and the cool images that appeared on them, are what initially attracted me to the PC Engine. Well, that and the awesome design of the original PCE system. Anyway, you should get more HuCards -- after you finish your Famicom collection, of course :)
