Praise Beckham! Inazuma Eleven will be released on August 26

Unfortunately, the date above refers to when this soccer-themed RPG will be released in the UK, not the US. The brass at Nintendo of America have yet to announce when or even if this DS title, which was developed by the able folks at Level-5, will make its way to the States.

Hey, at least the game--which first hit store shelves in Japan all the way back in 2008 and hit the streets elsewhere in Europe earlier this year--will, at long last, be playable in English, right?

Does Inazuma Eleven's horribly delayed UK launch mean there's still a chance the game will reach our shores eventually, too? I think so--especially since the crew at Level-5 International America (the company's North American branch) recently posted a poll on their Facebook page that asked people to vote for the currently-only-available-in-Japan titles that excite them most.

Inazuma Eleven is one of 10 games named in the poll, with the others being Fantasy Life (3DS), Girl's RPG Cinderelife (3DS), Inazuma Eleven Strikers (Wii), The Little Battlers (PSP), Ninokuni (DS and PS3), Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle (3DS), Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney (3DS) and Time Travelers (3DS).

It appears you can vote (here) just once and for just one game so choose carefully and wisely.

I'm guessing Professor Layton will win by a landslide...being that he's the most easily recognizable...but honestly, I hope not.

I actually found it strange that the 3DS Professor Layton is on there, Justin. Surely Nintendo will be publishing it here and it Europe? Or maybe not?

Regardless, I hate that they allow you to vote for just one game. If I'd had the opportunity, I would have cast votes for all but Girl's RPG Cinderelife and Inazuma Eleven Strikers. (I would have voted for the Wii-based Inazuma Eleven game, but it seems it's not an RPG like its DS-based cousins.)

Everyone should vote for Ninokuni as it is the most important game on the list! ;) Ok that's the end of my public service announcement.

I never expected them to localize this game, Bryan! Is it something you're thinking about picking up? I don't really know why Izunama Eleven is so popular... The anime is pretty big, have you seen any of it?

Hey there, Anne! Yeah, I'd love to see both versions of Ninokuni released. I would guess the DS version is out of the question at this point, though. Oh, well.

As for Inazuma Eleven -- I definitely plan on picking it up, even though I'm not exactly a fan of soccer. I just like "different" games, and a soccer-themed RPG certainly qualifies as different! Plus, I've really liked what I've played of Level-5's other games.

Oh, and, no, I haven't seen any of the anime. I barely know anything about the anime or games, to tell you the truth. I just like the sound and looks of them :)

What about you -- is this something you would pick up?
