Taiko no Tatsujin amigurumi + PC Engine Core Grafx controller = one adorable photo

How's this for a fluff post?

Actually, "fluff" takes on two meanings in this particular instance, as not only is this kind of a throw-away post (aka "a piece of pure fluff"), but it also focuses on something that's literally fluffy: Yarn.

Specifically, it focuses on the adorable Taiko no Tatsujin amigurumi (below) that was stitched together by blogger Spelinnea.

Spelinnea gets extra points in my book for not only making the crocheted Taiko drum (WadaDon) above as cute as can be but also for making him clutch a PC Engine Core Grafx controller.

Anyway, to see more photos of this fuzzy PC Engine fan, check out this post on Spelinnea's blog.

Note: This post originally appeared on my other gaming blog, iwasateenagepcenginefan.wordpress.com.

I agree.

Crocheted Taiko drum = Good

Crocheted Taiko drum playing a PC Engine = Awesome

Ha ha! Well, I'm glad someone agrees with me, Sean :) I think the crocheted drum itself is one of the cutest damn things I've seen in a while.

BTW, have you ever played a Taiko game, Sean? I haven't, although I really want to change that soon...

That's pretty cute, even if I have no idea who it is.

Ah, I see you and I are in the same boat, Justin -- the "I've never played a Taiko Drum Master game" boat. I'm seriously thinking of picking up the PS2 version (the only one to be released in the US) on the cheap sometime soon.

Oh, and BTW: Taiko Drum Master/Taiko no Tatsujin is a music/rhythm game played with a drum-shaped controller. You beat on it with drum sticks. The main character/mascot is WadaDon, the cute little guy that serves as the focus of this post.

Actually I have played a Taiko game. A couple months ago my wife and I went to an arcade in town here (I did a post about it on my blog) and we spent a while playing a Taiko game. It was quite fun. We started on the lowest level, which was easy to keep up with. Then I saw that on the expert level you could try playing the Super Mario Bros. theme song so I insisted on trying that. It was way too hard, I guess you need a lot of practice to get up to that level.

Anyway, bottom line is that taiko games are quite fun, especially with two players!

Oh, that's good to hear, Sean! The PS2 version isn't too expensive on Amazon, so maybe I'll pick up a copy of it soon...

Yeah, I did a little wikipedia research after I read this post, and I thought to myself, "I'll bet that peripheral is hard to find...but I'd love to play that game!"

Actually, Justin, the PS2 version includes the drum controller -- and can be found at Amazon, last I checked.

The PS2 version is the only one to ever make it out of Japan, by the way, which is too bad, since versions have been released since then for the DS and Wii (and PSP).
