Chic Pixel x The Gay Gamer

I know I spend each and every day talking about myself (to some extent) on this blog, but if you'd like to know a bit more about me even after all of the blathering I do here may I recommend that you sashay on over to the Chic Pixel blog and read the Q&A I recently completed with that site's proprietress, Anne Whittingham (aka apricotsushi)?

Actually, I suggest you check out said Q&A--titled, "Talking games, importing, blogging, and more with The Gay Gamer"--even if you are bored with moi, since Whittingham deserves every hit/pageview she can get for putting up with my long-winded answers.

She's wonderful, and please...we wouldn't be here if we didn't want to hear about you. :-)

Yes, she is! Also, thanks for setting me straight. Er, as much as is possible :P

HA!

This reminds me: I'm the blogger version of "that guy" who has to have the last word, aren't I? Even if you post something short like "HA!" I have to respond.

Don't worry, it doesn't come from a place of "I *have* to have the last word!" I honestly just can't help but respond to (nearly) every comment in some way :)

A nice interview that was. Interesting to learn a little bit about your gaming psyche and some on your semi-personal life. I feel quite enlightened now.

Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it, Motherplayer! I'm a bit shocked that you say you feel enlightened after reading it, though :)

I'll check her out

Yes, please do, Adam. She's a great writer and has published some really interesting posts!

Very nice piece. Great job by Anne Whittingham framing the interview and coming up with good questions, and Bryan's responses were interesting and enjoyable to read. Despite Anne's caveat about it being a long article, it was actually a very quick read!

One of the fun things to me about reading Q&As like this is finding out which games are special/memorable to the people being interviewed. So I enjoyed reading Bryan's thoughts on Bubble Bobble and Kid Icarus.

Hey there, IvaNEC! Nice to "see" you around here again :) Also, I'm glad you liked the interview and that you didn't find it unbearably long.

BTW, it's too bad I didn't talk more about my PCE obsession -- esp. my obsession w/ Tengai Makyou II. It's a game I've drooled over ever since I first laid eyes on a few screenshots of it in the pages of either Super Gaming or Turbo Play back in the day. I think I even wrote a letter to NEC or TTi (or Working Designs?) asking them to localize it and bring it to the US. Sadly, they never did. I actually picked up a copy of it at one point, but the language barrier has always proven to be too much of a barrier for me -- despite the fact that I've fought my way through other JRPGs like Final Fantasy V and VI.

Oh, well ...

And I've always appreciated that, Bryan. As you've seen...I'm the same way.

Thanks, Justin! And, yes, I know we're the same in that regard :)

Great interview there. I sympathize with your comments about enjoying your blog writing more than your professional writing. I have to write in my `day job` too and have found that my blog writing gives me way more enjoyment. The freedom to write about whatever you want whenever you want - that is just golden:)

Bryan Ochalla said...

Thanks, Sean! Yeah, I'm sure this is true for a lot of writers, whether they like their "day jobs" or not. Of course, it makes sense, as I'm my own boss when I blog, and the only person I have to answer to is myself. Plus, I only write about what interests me, which isn't always the case in my professional life.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my life as a freelance writer. I'm actually a huge nerd and get excited about pretty much every article I write for the different magazines for which I work. That kind of interest and excitement can't really compare to how I feel when I write for this blog, though -- which is why keep it up, I guess :)

Anyway, back to you, Sean, it's obvious from your posts that you enjoy your blogging, too -- which is great, because that enjoyment is infectious and worms its way into the hearts of your readers, too.

Thanks for spreading the word, Bryan! And thanks to everyone else for the kind words – it was a lot of fun conducting the interview, though it was my first time. Bryan is a star, for sure!

Oh, you're welcome, Anne! And you shouldn't worry about it being your first time -- you did a *great* job. The intro, especially, was well-written, in my opinion. Thanks again for being interested in it :)
