I want Animal Crossing 3DS baaaaaaadly

Ever since the Animal Crossing-branded 3DS LL was announced for Japanese release (alongside the game on Nov. 8) and the Tobidase Dōbutsu no Mori-focused Nintendo Direct was broadcast (on Oct. 5), I've spent more time than I'd like to admit daydreaming about the next entry in this adorable, world-conquering series.

As if that weren't bad enough, I'm so obsessed with the game right now that I've even taken to sites like deviantART in search of Animal Crossing-inspired illustrations.

The first piece of such fan art that I came across is the one you see above (and here), which features Cheri, a bear cub who only appeared in the first Animal Crossing, and Chevre, a Francophonic goat who has been featured in every Animal Crossing title thus far.

It was created by Japanese artist who goes by "Marys-Lamb" by the way. Also, it prompted the punny headline above.

I also came across a few holiday-themed illustrations that were inspired by Animal Crossing, including the one above (conjured up by Thai artist DC9spot).

This effort, produced by US-based artist Rin, caught my eye, too:

Sigh. The next few months are going to be tough for those of us waiting for non-Japanese versions of this game, aren't they?

I remember seeing a photo of the game where you can get a Link tunic and dress your house like the temple of time. I'm in.

YES! Blargh! BTW, anyone know what the Japanese subtitle is and what that translates to?

Hey there, Adam! I think you could do that in past Animal Crossings as well, if memory serves. At the very least, I know you could get a Link tunic in City Folk (the Wii sequel). Whatever gets you to pick up the game, I say :)

Well, Justin, folks have been translating the Japanese name to be "Animal Crossing: Jump Out!" so I'm guessing that's what you're looking for?

Assuming that's the most accurate translation of the subtitle, I have to imagine it'll be changed when it comes to the US, as it doesn't really make much sense, does it?

Really wish NOA would let us know what the NA name will be and when it'll be released here :(

Ahhh Bryan, now I'm going to have to go on Pixiv and look for more Japanese Animal Crossing fanart. Thanks! Hahaha.

By the way, I absolutely LOVE the second illustration! Something about the winter theme and all of the characters dressed up in winter clothes is downright adorable.

Well you know all about how I feel about Animal Crossing 3DS these days, heh. Oh, regarding the "tobidase" subtitle – it does literally mean "jump out," so I think that's an accurate translation. I always got the impression that it refers to the 3D effect, but I have to say it's not my favorite AC subtitle. I'm sure they'll localize it to something more interesting for the US release.

Hey there, Anne! Oh, I'll bet you'll find some great stuff on Pixiv. Why didn't I think of that?

I also really like the second illustration, BTW. I guess I'm in both an Animal Crossing AND winter/holiday mood based on the illustrations I posted here.

Speaking of which, this is part of the reason I'm really sad that AC 3DS won't be released in the US at the same time as it's released in Japan: I can think of nothing better than to wrap up in a blanket and play Animal Crossing as it cools off and rains outside. Oh, well, maybe next year.

Oh, and thanks for chiming in on the subtitle! I think you're right that it's supposed to refer to the 3D effect, but I still think it's kind of boring. Hopefully the Treehouse crew at NOA will come up with something better for the NA version.

Sound like a subtitle that is pushing the 3D aspect.

Yeah, which is kind of weird if you ask me -- as that really doesn't seem to be the standout feature of this entry. How about focusing on the fact that you're the mayor? Or that there's more things to do than ever?

It's going to be very interesting to see what subtitle NOA goes with. I certainly hope it's a bit more interesting and creative than "Jump Out!"

I preordered this game on Amazon in may this year but still no release-date.
Animal crossing is one of my favourite game-series and I need this game sooo bad :(
Yesterday I cought me listening to Animal-crossing songs on youtube...
But Pokemon White 2 deflects me a bit from this Animal Crossing disaster.
Have you downloaded your Genesect yet?

Hello Melody! Oh, yes, I'm in the same boat as you are: I *desperately* want to play the new Animal Crossing.

As for Genesect: Nope! Of course, I don't yet own Pokemon Black 2 or White 2, so that's probably why :) I'll likely pick up the game sooner or later, though. Are you enjoying it?

Melody (Lizzi) said...

Oh yes I do!!!
I loved Pokemon White and I preordered White 2 months ago so I received it october 11th (one day before release).
They staged the new setting so great xD
I think you'll enjoy it too :)

Sigh. I really have to finish Black before I get this one. Maybe in the coming weeks? Regardless, I'll buy Black 2 or White 2 eventually, just because I think it looks adorable :) Anyway, glad you're liking it so far!
