Don't cry, Vita fans; at least we were given a new Dragon's Crown trailer

I originally intended to fill this post with commentary about the second "Vita Heaven" broadcast Sony streamed to the masses over the weekend, but I decided to pass on that after seeing that it consisted of little more than an announcement of a rather large (and late-in-coming) price drop for the system and a slew of Monster Hunter clones.

Still, a new trailer for Dragon's Crown, the Atlus- and Vanillaware-developed (spiritual) successor to Princess Crown, Odin Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade, was shown as part of the event, so I wouldn't call this latest "Vita Heaven" a complete wash.

It was a rather lousy trailer, though, don't you think?

I mean, the footage is beautiful of course, and I'm still dying to play the game every bit as much as I was in 2011, but the trailer doesn't particularly tell us anything new. A release date (or even release window) sure would've been nice.

I guess we'll have to take it as positive news that this trailer (probably) confirms that the game hasn't been cancelled, at least. :|

I'll give you that it isn't the greatest trailer, Josef. It's better than most of what we got from this event, though! What a disaster. It made the worst Nintendo Direct look good to me.

I'm guessing tomorrow's event will be much better, but will it include Vita games and hardware?

Oh goodness, I've seen a lot of adult material featuring one of those characters... Never thought they we're from this series but then again im 100% not surprised.

Good to see new vita games though! I still mostly use mine for psp titles which I never got to download on account of not owning a GO.

Let me guess, Robert: you're talking about the gal with the huge thighs?

I wonder how many people use their Vitas like you do, by the way? I'll bet quite a few.

I suppose I should at least give you credit for being optimistic and not just a cynical old curmudgeon like myself, heh. But yeah; I'm glad I didn't even hear about the event until after the fact (and after I had seen this trailer for that matter) - if I'd actually been looking forward to it I can't imagine how disillusioned and/or resentful I would've been. As it stands I'm about as ambivalent about the Vita as I was two days ago.

I did catch part of the latest Nintendo Direct, but quickly realised that Nintendo are simply not making or selling anything that interests me these days. And by "these days" I pretty much mean "the last 10+ years". I'm not excited for the PS4 whatsoever, but I hope I won't have similar feelings after Sony's presentation tomorrow.

Well, at least you're not alone in feeling a bit (or a lot) 'meh' about what's currently going on in the gaming world, Josef. It seems a lot of folks feel the same way--and not just about the Vita or the Wii U, but about the impending PS4 and Next Xbox, too.

I'm feeling more than a bit of it myself. I used to be so excited to hear about new consoles, etc., but at the moment I'm feeling the complete opposite about the PS4 and Next Xbox reveals in particular.

As for not being interested in what Nintendo's doing these days: that's understandable, I guess, especially if you're not interested in Mario et al.

That said, I'd highly recommend checking out some of the non-Mario, non-Zelda games they're releasing, should you ever convince yourself to get a 3DS. Their eShop/digital titles in particular have been great so far, and none of them smack of 'tired retread' like some of their other IPs.

Another feather in the 3DS' cap: there are plenty of great, non-Nintendo games for the system, too.

Not that I'm really trying to sway you to buy a 3DS--especially if you have absolutely no interest in one. I only bring it up because it's quite honestly the only recent-ish system that I feel any passion for at the moment.

God...the boobs.

Strangely, the boobs bother/scare me less than the legs/thighs. Yikes!

The only natural looking female is probably the one of the far left. The others look unnatural/scary.

Oh, yes, that's definitely true, Dzinae. Of course, the folks at Vanillaware often have chosen to be creative when depicting the human form. What we see in this game is just an extension of that, I think.
