Those were the days

Did you know that back in the day the folks at NEC released a drawing tablet peripheral--called the Illust Booster--and a printer peripheral--called the Print Booster--for the PC Engine (the Japanese version of the TurboGrafx-16)?

I sure as hell didn't--until I came across the following "PC Engine World" promo video.

I'm not sure which depresses me more: that North American gamers never got to experience the wonders of the Illust and Print Boosters or that they never got to experience the wonders of the Famicom Disk System and the Famicom Modem.

Oh my gosh...what cool artwork!

I would have loved to have seen that. He'll, I'd have loved to have seen 64DD, too...it's too bad for us over here in America...

I'm resisting the urge to rant about the evils of showing children screen shots of a sequel to a game they adore and then dangling those same 5 screens in front of them before ultimately canceling their dreams without telling them...Earthbound 64/Mother 3, anyone?

Oh, I forgot about the 64DD -- and the Super Famicom's Satellaview (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellaview). Japanese gamers sure do have it good :)

Also, I have to agree with you 100% about Earthbound 64. I obsessed over those few images FOREVER!

I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
