The Backloggery

As I'm sure some of you are well aware, I'm a sucker for social media. After all, I've got deviantART, Facebook, Flickr, Formspring and Twitter accounts at the moment.

Actually, I added one more site to that lengthy list a few weeks ago: The Backloggery.

What's the point of this particular site, you ask? Basically, it helps you keep track of your gaming backlog. You don't just use your Backloggery account to track the games you own but have yet to play, though; you also use it to track games you're currently playing (by giving each one a status update, of sorts) as well as games you've already completed (which can be tagged "beaten," "completed" or "mastered).

Another cool thing about The Backloggery: You can connect to other gamers and not only compare collections but compete with them--basically, you earn points for every game you beat--as well.

If that sounds at all interesting to you, I'd highly recommend signing up for your own Backloggery account here. (After you do that, be sure to add me--http://backloggery.com/thegaygamer--to your "multitap," OK?)

The Backloggery is absolutely one of my favorite websites out there! I've never really been a fan of FB but somehow this site makes me become very social :P. Plus, I love organizing things so the site feeds that need.

Anyway, love the place! How'd you find out about it? I'm going to add you straight away :).

Hey there, Marcus! Oh, that's great that you already knew about The Backloggery *and* you already have an account there. Anyway, yes, add me ASAP and I'll add you, too.

As for how I found out about it -- I think it was thanks to a NeoGAF thread? Honestly, I can't remember!

Oh yeah, Backloggery's the greatest for keeping track of your gaming habits... okay so it's really just good at guilt-tripping you into beating all those unfinished games you have laying around, but that's an important thing!

I've actually added (nearly) all the games I own to mine, which was a pretty daunting task. Still, it's fun to show off ;D

Yeah, I've still got to add a loooooot of games to my list, Kamiwoo. I'll probably do so in spurts, as I think adding them all at once would be overwhelming!

Once they're all up, though, it'll be interesting to see which games (that I own) I've never played. I'll bet there are quite a few, unfortunately :(

I've run across some great limited-time deals on games (Amazon deal of the day, etc, which by the way, is listed on the Backloggery!), which means I sometimes nab games I don't have the time to play right then and there. So I have some still-in-wrapping games laying around, myself, so don't feel too bad ;D

It's kind of nice to have completely new games sitting on my shelf just waiting for me to try them out, but I can't deny that guilty feeling, either!

Yeah, I hear ya, Kamiwoo. I just feel guilty sometimes that I keep buying new games rather than playing some of the ones that have been sitting their for ages (like Last Window and Professor Layton 3 for DS and Chulip and La Pucelle for PS2). Oh, well, I'll get to them eventually, I guess!

Oh, I love backloggery! I haven't put up my list just yet, but will do it asap. My name there is Ontheshortbus.

Hello, Linnea! Welcome back :) I'll go add you to my multitap right now -- and look forward to seeing your collection in the future!

I'm on, too! I just joined the other day, and I really don't understand how to "add" you D: I did write on your page though (apricotsushi, as always), so hopefully I can figure out how to add you to my multitap...

In other news, I think you're the only one who would appreciate this–Taito Corp RTed my Space Invaders tote bag post on Twitter! :o

Ah, another person on The Backloggery. Yay! I'll go add you now.

It's easy enough to add me (or other folks), BTW -- just find me on The Backloggery and go onto my page/profile. Once you're there, on the right-hand side of the screen should be a little profile box that says "thegaygamer." Along the bottom of that box should be options that allow you send me a PM or add me to your multitap (or ignore me). The buttons/links are small, but they're there!

As for your other piece of news -- that's great! I'll bet it brought a bunch of new people your way. Congrats :)

I'll be joining when I get a few spare minutes to fill out my profile...

Great! I really have to start adding more of my games to my profile. I'm avoiding it, though, because I'm not sure I want to know how many games I own but don't play/have yet to play :P
