Two reasons tomorrow will be the best day of 2011

Good news for those of you who lack patience: Both of the above-mentioned reasons are covered by and in the following video:

Yep, tomorrow will be the best day of 2011 because that's when Minna no Rhythm Tengoku (aka Rhythm Heaven Wii) will hit the streets in Japan.

Real talk: Based on what I've seen of it thus far, I fully expect Rhythm Heaven Wii--which has yet to receive a European or North American release date (harrumph!)--to compete with the GBA original for the title of "Best Rhythm Tengoku Game."

Admittedly, it'll only be competing against two other games--the first of which was released for the GBA in 2006 and the second of which was released for the DS in 2008/2009--but both of those titles are among the best rhythm games ever released, so the winner of said contest shouldn't be considered chopped liver.

Every video I see of this game makes me want it so much more. Oh my gosh.

Me, too, Justin! I really like the chill vibe of that first game, BTW. And, really, the kids in these commercials are too cute...

I will never forget I downloaded the ROM for the GBA version when it was first released and I feel in love withe the game so much I coughed up about thirty bucks to order it off of eBay (now it seems to be worth more than double). Came with some neat-o stickers that I left in the original box. Probably my favorite GBA game with not only great game mechanics, but fantastic music and great design. The DS version I got the first day as well and as excellent as it is, I feel like the stylus controls are sometimes unnecessary. Still fun though. My hopes are set high for this and I pray for no awkward controller movements for a game that requires such precision timing.

Anyways, I will have to disagree about the kids. I love cute kids as much as the next person, but these ones... I just don't trust.

it'll also compete with the arcade port! which of course never released in the West...

Mark: Yes, the GBA original is worth whatever you have to pay for it, IMO. As for the DS version, I agree there, too -- in that the stylus controls weren't really necessary. They didn't bother me, though, and I still liked the game a lot.

RE: your fears for the Wii version -- everything I've read and seen of it says the game relies on button presses only. No motion control/waggle!

Other than that, you don't like the kids? OK, so the boys do seem a bit ... sketchy. That girl, though, it tooooooo cute :)

Eric: Although I knew the arcade version existed, I've never heard whether it was good or bad. Have you heard -- or experienced -- otherwise?

I never played it myself, but the videos I've seen for it make it look pretty fun. It looked just like the GBA game, except with bigger buttons.

i think sega made it, but i'm not sure if they messed it up or not.

Sega was involved, eh? That's not good news. Maybe they got help from the folks at Nintendo or something.

BTW, speaking of the arcade version: Did you hear that some of the GBA title's mini-games are included in the Wii version as some sort of bonus? Could be that they're the arcade versions of those mini-games...
